You can turn screen sharing off at any time.  I cannot access or control your device.

About the service

  • Does it matter what device I have? I specialize in Apple products (Mac books, iPad, iPhone, Apple watch). I can help with general issues like using email, use the internet, set up online accounts.... on any mobile device.

  • What is a remote session? Support is over the phone. The "only" thing you have to do is open the link I send you. That allows me to view your device screen. I see what you see and walk you through. To make "one on one" sessions safe, we also use this technology to keep a safe distance. 

  • How long is a session? As long as needed. There is a 5  minute minimum for "on the spot" sessions".

  • Scheduled sessions are 30 minutes minimum.

  • Who can book this service? Anyone - no matter what age, background, knowledge.... 

  • Are there any reviews of the business? I am working on setting up a review page. This is the latest "Thank you note" I received from a client: "Thank you so much for the fast and efficient advice on my new iPhone 7.  The remote assistance was extremely useful and we had it solved in a short time (and I didn’t have to go through all the “press 1 for ….” And give my phone number ten times).  I learned a lot and your assistance was so easy to use.  The real plus was we got it done so quickly!    Love your service and will use it again."

  • What about restrictions because of Covid-19? If you don't feel a 100% healthy, you have been traveling in the last 14 days, covid testing pending... I do recommend remote sessions over the phone. "One on one" sessions are limited to 1 person and can be done with keeping a safe distance. Following state guidelines are mandatory. CDC cleaning and safety protocols are in place.  I am fully vaccinated.

  • How do you pronounce "Birgit"?  The correct pronunciation is "B EE R - g iht"  (g as in "go"). You can call me "B".

Location and payment​
  • Where is your service located? On the Big Island of Hawaii/USA.

  • In what area are "in person" service appointments? Currently at selected safe "pop up" locations. 

  • Do you come to my house? All sessions are in a public (mostly) outdoor setting. This means mobile devices only (laptop, cell phone or tablet). 

  • What days/times do you work? I am flexible regarding time and day. Except holidays. 

  • How long in advance do I need to book an appointment? There might be an opening on the next day.

  • How much does it cost? Do you have gift cards? Please see the pricing for all products here. Our electronic gift cards will be sent by email to the recipient directly. 

  • Are there any hidden fees? No, I will charge you only for the minutes you used my service. For the remote service you need internet access otherwise there might be a charge from your cell phone provider. 

  • How do I pay? Cash, secure online payment or over the phone with debit/credit card.

  • What is the cancellation policy? At least 24 hours before your session. Otherwise no refund of the retainer payment.

  • Do I get my retainer money back if I forget my appointment? $ 25 "no show" fee. 

  • What about discounts or special offers? They are listed in the "sessions section" on the website. 

Service restrictions

  • Drop off option (you have to be present during the session)

  • Detailed support for other devices than mobile Apple® products

  • Desktop computers 

  • Repairs by a certified apple service provider/technician 

  • Apple Care® coverage to pay for this service

  • Physical repairs on your device of any kind (cracked displays, jammed charging port,...)

  • Malware and Anti-virus protection or solutions

  • Sell, loan, exchange or upgrade devices or accessories 

  • Support for cell phone provider or internet services related problems

  • Access or handling any confidential information (for example password managing, or financial apps...)

  • 24/7 phone or chat support

  • At home sessions

ABOUT ME

 

My interest for technology started early with programming my parents video cassette recorder, help the grandparents lock in the digital radio stations and set their digital alarm clock. It continued with Dvd and MP3 players, computer, printer,....
I switched gears to become a speech language pathologist & enjoyed working with patients from 1 to 90+ years old. During that time I learned a lot about communication, individual needs, patience & that one concept or "manual" does not always fit all.
After moving to Hawai'i I soon became the technical support person in my husband's photography business and helped our clients navigating through their photo site, downloads and placing orders.  
(It was also the start of the iPhone/iPad era when apps & technology became the "new normal" for almost everyone.)

Throughout the last years I have helped family & friends to customize their mobile devices & keep their frustration at a minimum (including my husband David who likes to push buttons, but can't rely on our "support" dog  Elvis when it comes to technology). 

The demand kept growing and the returning "client" rate was high. And that's when my business "the helpful spot" was created to find a solution for each individual person that needed help navigating the digital world.
